Bliss Flowers Breakdown

so when i do a piece on my own i tend not to have much direction and make things up as i go. so i thought id save some steps so we can see the process. (btw im dying to make screencasts so i can put movies up of my doodles..maybe next time ;)

my rough sketch. ill draw with a pencil brush (all digital btw) then change my lines to blue so i can trace over them with a finer brush without any confusion.

i'm at the point where i leave everything open and add all the depth and light sources with color.  it just comes out looking better for me.

i drop in flat colors (usually my darks) to get started.

next i paint in a sky or mess with an existing one i had, and add my highlights.

i googled some random flowers and plants then roughly incorporated them into the picture.

i tweaked the colors, added more darks, highlights and painted in more elements.

i decided i wanted to add alot more to the picture, so i extended my canvas then painted in more sky.  i sketched in Mad Jack in a tree, fishing (in the background) and mits in the foreground looking at Bliss and the flowers.

i then drop flats into those guys and the trees.

i render the new art and i end up getting rid of the lines on Jack and the trees since im going to push them back further into the background.

i tweaked the colors added more darks, highlights and painted in some effects..i spent alot of time just getting the focus of the picture right, still dont know if it works but im happy with it.
(for the time being :)

This isn't my favorite thing I've seen of yours just because the content seems pretty random, but the execution is definitely up there. I'm not sure about that PS leaf brush, but everything else looks really cool. Keep on it!

I'm diggin the breakdown of your process. Amazing color palette as usual. Nice to see sketch to finalized layers. Keep banging out the goods my man!
